College is more affordable than it seems
With college costs constantly rising, some students are scared off by the high cost of attendance of many colleges–sometimes $60,000 per year or more. But the majority of students don’t actually pay full price.
This awesome infographic explains why you shouldn’t let a high sticker price stop you from applying to a school. Though the price of tuition has gone up at most private and public schools, federal financial aid has increased accordingly, allowing students who would have never been able to afford college to attend.
Of course, it’s important to have a backup plan and apply to several different colleges in case you do not receive enough aid to attend a more expensive school. But you shouldn’t let the sticker price of any college stop you from applying. When your financial aid packages arrive, you may be surprised to find that the college with the higher cost of attendance actually ends up being significantly cheaper than a lower-priced public or community college.
